Lynn just called me with an update.
Elaine has been very busy today. Physical therapy helped her get up and she shuffled to a chair and sat in the chair for an hour. Then she shuffled back to her bed.
They were going to do dialysis today but decided not to do it after all. The less often they do dialysis, the better. It allows her kidneys to get stronger. They are hoping her kidneys can eventually do all the work.
Her feeding tube got clogged today. They were scheduled to replace it but decided to keep it out and see how she does. She was able to eat half a bowl of soup and some crackers for lunch. She has been upgraded to a regular diet so now she can eat anything she wants to eat. Keeping the feeding tube out will probably be enough incentive to get her eating as much as possible.
When PT returned this afternoon she was able to walk to the door and back twice. Lynn said she is getting better at doing "laps".
She is pretty worn out by now. John & Suzie are visiting. Melanie, with baby Keeton, are there at the hospital too. They are all enjoying being able to be in her room without having to take turns. It is nice that there are no age restrictions so Elaine can see some of the grandkids now.
We hope and pray that she continues to progress. Busy days like today are always good.
