A Gastrointestinal doctor just came in to talk to us about the CT scan and the stomach issues mom has had over the past few days. She said that there was some inflammation in mom's lower intestines. This could be contributing to her nausea and other tummy issues
They aren't sure what the exact cause is, but any of the following could be the culprit:
- her radiation treatments
- an infection
- some of her medications
For now they are taking a conservative approach and will change some medications to see if that relieves the symptoms. They also are sending some samples to the lab to help rule out infection.
In other news, with the physical therapists help, mom was able to stand up, take baby steps to a chair and sit there for forty minutes this morning. I'm sure it's nice to get out of the hospital bed once in a while, but it takes a lot of energy to retrain muscles to sit up that long.
Dialysis was done again today. They were able to get two and a half liters of fluids off.
Please keep the prayers coming to help keep her spirits up. Long stays in the hospital can really bring you down. I know we all are feeling the prayers on our family's behalf. Thank you and we love you all.
