The lead heart surgeon asked Elaine how she felt this morning. She replied,"Like a rug." I think Brenda is right, Elaine is frustrated that her body hasn't caught up to her determination.
She is making progress. They took her off the dialysis pump yesterday. She is doing well without it. She will still need intermittent dialysis for a few weeks then they can tell how damaged her kidneys may be.
They also took her off oxygen. She had been on oxygen since they took out the ventilator. Her oxygen levels remain high even without the extra help.
They are working really hard to strengthen her body. They said they were going to unleash physical therapy on her today. They need her to gain strength and eat more so that feeding tube can finally come out.
She told Lynn the other night that they did an operation on her while he was gone. In actuality, they only moved the blood port from one artery to another. Her body is covered in bruises from all the poking and prodding they have done in the past two weeks. No wonder she feels like rug. Poor lady.
